President Joe Biden Announces He Will Not Seek Re-election

On July 21, President Joe Biden announced that he will not be running for another presidential term. This announcement was made on his social media account on X (formerly Twitter) on the same day.

“It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your president. While I had the desire to seek re-election, I believe that in the best interest of my party and the country, I must step aside and focus solely on fulfilling my presidential duties until the end of my current term,” Biden stated in his message to Americans.

Joe Biden suggested that Vice President Kamala Harris should be the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate. “My first major decision as the party’s candidate in 2020 was to choose Kamala Harris as my vice president. It was the best decision I made. Today, I wholeheartedly support and endorse Kamala’s candidacy for our party this year,” Biden declared.

The Democratic nominee will be officially announced at the national convention scheduled for August 19-22.
